“Don’t lose your way”-initiative to save British paths

The charity organisation Ramblers is looking for volunteers to help map over 10,000 miles of path across England and Wales. The mapping of paths is time sensitive, because from January 1, 2026 paths that are not added to definite maps based on historical evidence could be lost forever.

You can join the search by selecting a 1km square and compare it to a historical map and mark any differences between historical and current maps. Other volunteers will then make applications to submit the paths to local authorities to restore the paths officially.
