Thank you for visiting backyard explorer, a blog dedicated to show you what great activities you can do in and around Newcastle. Have a look at the video below before I tell you more about what to expect from the blog.

As I mentioned in the video, I will post new content twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. You can look forward to interviews, videos and more about all the great activities you can do in the north-east. I myself am an international student from Germany at Newcastle University. When I was younger, my mother went hiking with me and my sisters in the black forest every summer.

Many students like me travel to other cities in the UK like London, York or Edinburgh because we want to see and explore new places. But there are a lot of interesting things to do in and around Newcastle besides having a great night out with friends or walking along the Quayside.

I love being outside and explore nature, therefore I will mostly focus on posts about outdoor activities, but living in toon for over four months now has also taught me one thing: always take an umbrella with you, no matter how close Uni is. Newcastle offers great indoor activities as well, so look out for posts about things you can do when the weather prevents you from going for a run or hiking.
